I thought I knew better than to buy cosmetics like MAC or Benefit on eBay because 90% of the time you are getting a counterfeit/fake product. I did not know they are making fake Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I wanted the new Naked 3 palette and found it for a great price on eBay. I read the seller’s reviews, who uses the name Shadosray, and it was perfect. The photo he had listed of the Naked 3 palette was real, and matched the one on the Sephora and Ulta website.
I should have known that for $20 cheaper, it would be fake. $20 is not worth the time wasted and arguing back and forth to get my refund, and having to pay for the return shipping.
When I received it in the mail, something felt off. I did some research and compared mine to photos of real ones on the internet. It actually came inside a REAL box, but with no shadow primers, but they stated that in the listing, so I couldn’t be upset over that. Then I noticed that the lines/ indentations on the top cover tin were deep and looked liked they were done with sharp long fingernails, instead of shallow lines that blended nicely all over.
The next thing I noticed is that the lettering on the brush is black instead of gold. If you have black lettering on your brush, girlfriend, your shit is fake. You will also notice that the bristles on the fake brush are darker at the bottom and get whiter at the top, and there are no numbers on the other side of the lettering of the brush like the real one has. (Excuse my nails, I just picked off my gels and have a gnarly hangnail :( gross)
The next dead giveaway is that the lettering on the shadows is black instead of dark rose and it’s not centered. Nooner is off to the side and the B where Blackheart starts is in between Darkside and Blackheart.
I saw some really sad fake palettes on the internet that have terrible colors that are nowhere near the original. This one is actually VERY similar, even when you swatch them. Although, the fake colors are missing that shimmery effect and Darkside looks way off, as well as Liar and Nooner.
When I messaged this fake seller, and demanded my money back, he tried to tell me he knows for a fact they are real and he has permission to sell them from some factory he gets them from, YEAH RITE BRAH. Who knows what is in these shadows and we are putting them on our faces???? SCARY. Ulta always has coupon codes and they send you lots of fun samples. Just for spending $50 buying the real UD NAked 3 Palette, I got a makeup bag with 12 samples for free, and another baggie with 3 samples that come with every order. If you need a coupon code, you can find them easily online or in the mail if you sign up for their mailing lists! Private Message me if you have had any experiences buying counterfeit or knockoff eBay items. You can bet your sweet ass I reported the seller to eBay and when I went to leave him negative feedback, ALL of his feedback had been changed to private and his listing for all the different counterfeit palettes he was passing off as real were removed too. I still left him bad feedback and he had the nerve to ask me to change it. HA! The part that really bugs me the most is that he used photos of a real UD NAked 3 Palette.
Lesson learned, never buy really popular makeup items from Ebay again. There are exceptions though. I subscribe to ALL of the monthly sample boxes and I get tons and tons of samples. I know some people are on waiting lists, or just like to get samples like I do. I put together A makeup bag or reusable box filled with samples that are all BRAND NEW and unopened and real, straight from the monthly sample brands. If you are interested, check out my ebay page, Moonchildren. I always have one up, and instead of 5 or 6 samples for $10- $15, I do 15 to 25 samples always under $20. Checkout my feedback score as well, 100% plus a money back guarantee.
Safe shopping and beware of those counterfeit sellers!
